BUDDY x BONES k9 training
1. Pack boundary method
The Pack Boundary Method™ is inspired by the way parent dogs naturally guide and correct their puppies. In a healthy canine family, boundaries are clear, communication is direct, and corrections are calm, brief, and purposeful.
This approach focuses on structure, timing, and clarity — not fear or force. We teach dogs how to regulate their behavior through consistent leadership, helping them understand expectations the way they instinctively would within a stable pack dynamic. Clear boundaries create calm dogs. Calm dogs create confident homes.
2. Relationship-Based Training
Focuses on the relationship between the dog and the trainer or owner, using trust, communication, and understanding to motivate the dog. It’s less about strict commands and more about meeting both dog and owner’s needs.
3. Scent detection Training
Snout It Out! is my signature scent detection training system designed to bring expert-level nosework to dogs of all ages and experience levels. Through structured scent games and progressive challenges, dogs engage their natural hunting instincts while building focus, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
I incorporate scent work into my training programs because it provides powerful mental stimulation that complements my correction-based methods. While physical exercise tires the body, scent work tires the mind in the best possible way — reducing anxiety, destructive behaviors, and restlessness. It strengthens the bond between dog and handler and gives every dog a purposeful “job,” which is essential for developing a balanced, confident canine.
This is why scent detection is a core part of the BUDDY x BONES training philosophy.
4. 3 Context Training Method
I use a proven three-stage approach called Three Context Training to help dogs truly understand and reliably perform new skills.
Stage 1 – Home Environment We begin in the comfort of your home, where your dog feels safe and relaxed. This allows us to clearly introduce a new concept without distractions, so your dog can learn successfully from the start.
Stage 2 – Familiar Outdoor Area Once the dog understands the new skill at home, we move to a familiar outdoor space. This stage helps strengthen the dog’s receptiveness and builds confidence by applying the concept in a slightly more challenging but still comfortable environment.
Stage 3 – Public Park with Distractions In the final stage, we train in a public park filled with real-world distractions (people, dogs, squirrels, noises, etc.). This is where the skill becomes truly solid and reliable — proofing the behavior so your dog listens and responds no matter the situation.
This progressive method ensures lasting results instead of fragile training that only works in perfect conditions.
Tell your Dog to stop searching. The Greatest Scent Kit has arrived.
